Global Navigation Redesign

Project Overview
Users increasingly struggled to navigate the product and locate content. Switching between sections felt disorienting, and admins lacked clarity when managing multiple teams.

The old navigation system couldn’t scale with product growth or support different user roles, which led to confusion, inefficiency, and unnecessary support tickets.
Role
Lead Product Designer
Project Goals
  • Create a clear, scalable navigation framework that worked across teams, roles, and devices
  • Decrease in support tickets around workspace confusion
Project Impact
  • Significant decrease in user-reported confusion
  • Increased efficiency for admins managing multiple teams
  • Saved internal teams time with making decisions on organization, features, and bug fixes
Approach
Working closely with PM and Engineering, our approach began with analyzing user feedback, support tickets,
and usage data to identify the most pressing pain points.

We then mapped role and team based workflows to understand where navigation broke down and where it
can
be improved.
We then reworked the IA into structured navigation levels
(L1–L4) to create clarity and hierarchy.
We then prototyped and tested multiple navigation models
to validate usability and scalability.
We aligned with stakeholders across design, product, and engineering to ensure the framework could scale across workspaces, teams, roles, and devices.

The focus throughout was simplifying the user’s mental model while creating a navigation system that could grow with the product.
